Noel Herrity has an extensive experience managing Mobile Network in Africa and Caribbean countries- 9 years African CEO experience leading and shaping mobile operations in Africa ( Tanzania and Botswana)
CEO Voila Haiti ( part of Digicel Group)
On 13th April Noel took over as CEO for Voila Haiti (recently acquired by Digicel Group) initially with a view to running the operation as a sub-brand within the Haiti market. This was changed, on arrival, to a complete integration with Digicel
Key stats for Voila are : 850km customer base ;30% market share ; historic revenues of $120m; 34% EBITDA margin ;350 sites ; recently introduced 3G across network; 650 staff ; 14 own stores and 166 authorized POS locations . Immediate challenge now is to transition all customers to operate on the combined Voila/Digicel network within 4 months ( the two networks operate on different frequency spectrum). A second challenge is to drive EBITDA performance by streamlining and downsizing existing operations and achieving synergies across the two businesses. The third challenge is to protect the revenue base as we rapidly transition customers and services to the Digicel family within record timescale.
CEO Zantel ( Etisalat Tanzania Africa) : Customer base increased from 80k in 2005 to 1.9m in 2010 and grew market share from 1.5% to 10% in highly competitive market. Grew revenues to $100m and Improved market position from 6th Operator to 4th in Mainland and 1st position in Zanzibar. Market leader in Tanzania (and East Africa) for Mobile Internet Access and Mobile Broadband data services.
First Operator globally to roll out pre-paid Mobile broadband services ( in 2006). Recognized leader in Customer Service among Tanzanian Operators.. Recognized for Rollout of innovative mobile services ( e.g. Z Pesa : mobile money)
CEO BTC Botswana: In 2002 engaged by IDI Ltd to head up the Transformation of Botswana Telecom and appointed as CEO by the Minister for Communications.
Key Achievements:
Financial turnaround from losses of P50m pa to sustained profits of P110m pa
Restored the customer base from 64,000 to 135,000 in 3 years against stiff mobile competition.
Established a financial restructuring of the corporation including loans ( P300m) negotiated for development.
Reduced staff numbers by 35% and associated costs.
Repositioned the Corporation and introduced a range of new Internet and Data services
Established a base for privatization and positioning for entry into mobile market
